Professional experience

Mathieu has been practicing in the field of civil and commercial litigation since 2016. He has represented various public bodies, insurers, companies, executives, and professionals, such as architects and accountants, in various disputes. His clients particularly appreciate his listening skills, proactivity, professionalism and diligence. His analytical capacity enables him to develop strategies that go beyond legal issues in cases where the clients’ situation requires taking into account political, financial, reputational and human elements.

Mathieu regularly represents our clients in judicial courts, both in first instance and in appeal, and in arbitration or mediation proceedings. Mathieu’s experience has led him to develop ease and agility in court and in conducting depositions.

While maintaining a varied practice, Mathieu has developed a more in-depth expertise in construction law and professional liability. In the construction sector, he frequently represents developers, contractors, subcontractors and professionals in critical cases involving a large number of stakeholders. His experience in defending chartered professional accountants has also led him to work on complex disputes, including disagreements among shareholders, disputes in business valuation, and contested tax planning.

Mathieu joined the LCM Attorneys team in 2024 after practicing for eight years at a firm specializing in insurance law and municipal law. After obtaining his law degree from the University of Montreal, Mathieu completed a specialized graduate program at the Faculty of Law of the University of Sherbrooke in mediation, arbitration, negotiation, and psychology. These skills and knowledge are important assets in his ability to analyze disputes and implement effective strategies.

In addition to his practice, Mathieu is an excellent communicator and contributes to the training of the next generations of lawyers by teaching at the Bar School of Quebec.
