Companies doing business in Quebec are subject to significant obligations regarding the protection of personal information, especially with legislative amendments introduced by Bill 25 in September 2021, and whose provisions have since then gradually come into effect. We are therefore frequently called upon to advise and assist our clients regarding their obligations in this matter, including in the development and implementation of internal policies.

Our firm advises and represents its clients in relation to access to information issues in the private and public sectors. We guide our clients through each stage of the process, whether it is to make an access to information request or respond to the requests they may receive.

Our lawyers understand the particular needs of companies and organizations – whether it is their obligations regarding the protection of personal and private information or the necessity of protecting their own confidential and sensitive information – and have developed the tools and knowledge required to manage access to information files in a strategic and efficient manner.

  • Advice and support in the drafting and implementation of internal policies and tools related to the protection of personal information and access to information.

  • Advising businesses on how to respond to information access requests and representing them before the Commission d’accès à l’information, Québec’s access to information commission.

  • Representation of an Integrated University Health and Social Services Centre (CIUSSS) before the Court of Quebec in a significant case concerning the protection of personal information contained in the records of users of the health and social services system.

  • Representation of Corporation of Urgences-Santé in the context of an access to information request seeking the names of individuals involved in an incident for which emergency services were involved.
