Alexandra R. Lattion focuses on civil litigation, employment law and commercial litigation. Her diverse practice has included complex litigation cases, class actions, consumer law, product liability, construction law, actions related to the termination of senior managers and officers, seizures and injunctions, access to information and professional liability. In her practice, Ms. Lattion is often called on to provide legal opinions on complex issues.

 

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Lattion worked for two years as a summer student and articled in the litigation department at a large national firm.

 

During her law studies, Ms. Lattion served as Director of Research and a member of the Board of Directors of the Legal Information Clinic at McGill. In addition, she was a teaching assistant for the first-year law class, worked as a research assistant and interned at the Quebec Consumer Protection Office. She has volunteered with several organizations, such as Lawyers Without Borders and Pro Bono Canada.
Ms. Lattion is a member of the board of directors of Laval’s Center for perinatal resources (Mieux-naître à Laval)

Representative Work

Helped develop the defense for General Electric Railcar Services Corp., the lessor of some of the oil tank cars involved in the July 2013 derailment in Lac-Mégantic.

 

Helped develop the defense for consumer product and pharmaceutical manufacturers in class actions involving product liability.

 

Helped develop complex construction law proceedings alleging the liability of the involved professionals and which required in-depth knowledge of provincial and federal environmental law.

 

Represented shareholders and officers in an action for an injunction and damages involving director liability.

 

Drafted legal opinions and reviewed internal procedures regarding access to information for private and public organizations.
