Professional experience

Over the course of her career, Lucy-Maude has developed a diversified practice in civil and commercial litigation, construction law and employment law. As such, she has pleaded before all levels of Quebec civil courts. Curious and tenacious by nature, Lucy-Maude has developed a particular ability to dissect and master complex issues from a factual or technical standpoint, in order to deploy the best dispute resolution strategies to meet her clients’ objectives.

Lucy-Maude has been called upon to strategically advise various actors in the construction industry in the management and settlement of legal proceedings, as well as assist them in real-time disputes on major construction sites. As such, Lucy-Maude was recently recognized by her peers as a “One to Watch” in construction law (Best Lawyers in Canada – 2024).

Lucy-Maude’s expertise in employment law has led her to frequently represent the interests of executives in the negotiation of employment contracts and severance agreements. Lucy-Maude also represents both employers and employees in current or anticipated disputes concerning non-solicitation and non-competition undertakings.

In addition, Lucy-Maude has developed particular expertise in conducting various types of workplace investigations involving sensitive and complex issues. She has acted several times as an independent investigator and is duly accredited by the Quebec Bar to conduct investigations into psychological harassment in the workplace.

In addition to her practice, Lucy-Maude is committed to supporting her colleagues in the management and growth of the firm, including mentoring, recruitment and the development of internal policies.

  • Representation of plaintiffs and of defendants in cases involving alleged breaches of non-competition and non-solicitation clauses.

  • Represented the Canadian Association of University Teachers as an intervener in a class action seeking recognition of the privileged and confidential nature of sources and of data collected in the context of social science research.

  • Represented principals, subcontractors and engineering firms in construction disputes.

  • Representation of a client in the context of an investigation instituted by public procurement authorities.

  • Representation in defense of class actions in civil liability, competition law and consumer law.

  • Representation of the Fédération des Caisses Desjardins du Québec, the largest cooperative financial group in Canada, in class action proceedings concerning prepayment penalties for mortgage loans.

  • Represented executives in the negotiation of employment contracts and in dismissal proceedings.

  • Acting as an independent workplace investigator into allegations of appropriation of confidential documents and psychological harassment.

  • Review of internal policies and of calls for tender for major clients.

  • Representation of significant securities brokers in the context of lawsuits filed by former investment advisors following their termination.
