On this eve of Earth Day, 2023, LCM Attorneys wants to highlight the importance of what Earth Day symbolizes.

Each year, April 22 is a reminder for everyone that we must all take concrete actions to reduce our ecological footprint, and that every day is a new opportunity to adopt greener practices.

In 2022, the resources of 5.1 planets would have been needed if everyone consumed them at the same rate the Canadian population does.

The environment is at the core of the values that drive the members of our team. This is what motivates the Environmental and Social Responsibility Committee to continually seek solutions to make the firm's practices more ecological, with the guiding principle of reduce, reuse, recycle.

In the past year, various measures have been taken to significantly reduce the amount of waste generated by the firm, in particular by almost completely eliminating the use of disposable items. Sound social and environmental practices among the company's selected suppliers are also essential.

Earth Day was first celebrated on April 22, 1970. Some 53 years later, the day takes on even greater significance in light of the challenges posed by climate change, of which Canada is likely to be one of the most affected countries. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) stressed last month that immediate action is needed to limit the irreversible damage of climate change, which is already proving to be more intense and faster than expected.
