It is with great sadness that we learned of the sudden passing of the Honourable Joel A. Silcoff. The Honourable Justice Silcoff had honored us by joining LCM Attorneys Inc. as counsel in February 2017, upon his retirement from the Superior Court of Quebec, where he had served for over sixteen years.

An outstanding jurist with remarkable wisdom, unfailing patience and a reputation that extended far beyond the borders of Quebec, Justice Silcoff profoundly marked the legal world in Quebec and in Canada. Over his judicial career, he participated in the creation of the Commercial Division of the Superior Court of Quebec and rendered some of the most important decisions of his time in the areas of commercial and corporate law, banking law, government tendering, contractual interpretation and international arbitration.

Since joining the firm, the Honourable Justice Silcoff has devoted himself to mediation and arbitration. A tireless worker, he always remained dedicated to using his knowledge, skill and reputation to contribute to the resolution of the most important disputes. His departure is a great loss for the firm; his colleagues will remember him as a remarkable colleague, a true gentleman, a model of kindness, professionalism, integrity and generosity.

The members of the firm extend their deepest condolences to his companion Janice, his family and his loved ones.
