The Superior Court Grants Cardinal Marc Ouellet’s Defamation Claim
Montreal, August 31st, 2026 — LCM Attorneys acknowledges the judgment rendered today by the Superior Court, which grants the defamation claim brought by Cardinal Marc Ouellet against Ms. Paméla Groleau.
The Court notably found that the allegations made against Cardinal Ouellet were “false,” “disproportionately amplified” and imbued with a “very great temerity equivalent to malice,” thereby causing harm to his reputation, integrity and moral authority.
Statement by Mtre Dominique Ménard, Managing Partner, LCM Attorneys
“We are pleased that the Court has recognized the injustice suffered by Cardinal Ouellet and that the fault committed against him now gives rise to compensation. This judgment reaffirms a fundamental principle: even in the context of judicial proceedings, serious allegations must be based on accurate and relevant facts and advanced with the rigor required by their gravity.
Cardinal Ouellet will make a public statement in the coming hours. For our part, out of respect for the judicial process, we will refrain from commenting further on the judgment at this time.”
