Professional experience
As a lawyer specializing in privacy, cybersecurity, and technology law, Dany Guimond-Valcourt is recognized for her strategic and pragmatic approach. She supports organizations in developing integrated compliance and governance programs that address the entire data lifecycle—from collection to destruction. Dany helps business leaders navigate an ever-evolving regulatory landscape where technological innovation and information protection must coexist.
She advises a wide range of clients in both the private and public sectors on technology risk management, data governance, contract drafting and negotiation, as well as due diligence in mergers and acquisitions. As a Breach Coach, she acts on the front line during cybersecurity incidents, including data breaches and ransomware attacks, coordinating technical, legal, and regulatory responses. Her experience also extends to international matters involving cross-border notification requirements and complex compliance frameworks.
Alongside her practice, Dany is deeply involved in legal education and professional development. She teaches in the Master’s program in Computer and Software Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal and in the Graduate Diploma in Business Law and Enterprise Risk Management at the Université de Sherbrooke. Through her teaching, mentoring, and career guidance initiatives, she emphasizes practical case-based learning, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
A member of the Quebec Bar since 2009, Dany holds academic credentials in law, management, and cybersecurity. Her dual expertise in legal and technological domains allows her to combine rigor, innovation, and strategic vision in serving her clients.
Before joining LCM, Dany held key positions in cybersecurity, governance, and risk management within leading institutions, including Desjardins and the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ). At Desjardins, she contributed to strengthening enterprise-wide frameworks for resilience, compliance, and incident management, while at CDPQ, she supported portfolio companies in enhancing their cybersecurity and risk governance practices.
She also collaborated with numerous organizations across the public and private sectors, particularly in the financial, technology, and professional services industries, by advising on data protection, cybersecurity, business continuity, and digital transformation strategies. In these roles, she supported organizations during expansion, acquisition, and merger projects, providing guidance on due diligence and security posture evaluation.
