VARIED PROJECTS, STIMULATING MANDATES, DIRECT INVOLVEMENT
Whether large multinationals, start-ups, financial institutions or professionals, we represent clients of all sizes in a wide range of legal fields. Our articling students and students are called upon to work on a wide variety of files, to quickly assume responsibility and to develop their sense of initiative and autonomy.
Our articling students have the opportunity to work on all facets of the mandates entrusted to us – from legal research and the drafting of notes and opinions to meeting clients, preparing for examinations and trials – and they work in constant contact with our lawyers.
Working at LCM means learning from rigorous lawyers in a work environment that fosters collaboration and camaraderie, and where everyone's style and personality shine through.
Summer program
Students recruited for the Quebec Bar’s articling program have the opportunity to work at the firm prior to their articling term, enabling them to meet the team, familiarize themselves with the firm’s operations and start developing their reflexes before the start of their articling term. Depending on their preference, students can work for one or two summers before starting their internship.
On arrival and throughout their work, students receive training designed especially for them, in addition to being accompanied by an experienced mentor and paired with a junior partner with whom they can exchange ideas. Students are also fully involved in the life of the firm: they take part in all lunchtime conferences, attend meetings and take part in scheduled social and community activities.
Internship program
Having spent one or more summers with us, our articling students are quickly integrated into teams that already know them well. For us, the internship must be seen in a long-term perspective. Our articling students are our future colleagues, both in the firm and in the profession.
As an articling student, you are a full-fledged member of the firm, working directly with all team members. There’s no centralized, anonymous assignment system, no automatic rotation. You’re encouraged to explore the firm’s different practices, while developing a natural working relationship with all team members.
A comprehensive mentoring program is in place, and you’ll benefit from rigorous supervision and a sympathetic ear throughout your internship.
Compensation and benefits
We offer our articling students and students highly competitive compensation and benefits, comparable to those offered by other leading Montreal practices.
In addition to a competitive salary, articling students are covered by the firm’s employee medical and dental insurance, and receive a cell phone allowance. We also pay the Quebec Bar School tuition and mandatory documentation fees, and provide our future articling students with a competitive stipend for the duration of the program.
